Hi All. Well, this is my First Salt Tank. I just couldn't wait any more!!! It's been up and running for about 2 months now and is doing quite well. I am very happy with it. I have been doing a lot of research online (much of it through this site) and I am so glad I did before I got started. I have so many people to thank on this site for being as successful as I have been and you don't even know it. LOL Anyway, we'll see how it goes over time. :) Pics will be up soon.

I'll post some better pics once I clean the glass. I have a lot of pods on it and did not want to scrape them off just yet. :)
The tank is doing very well. The only thing I would change (and probably still will) is I would get the 20" Light fixtur instead. the legs on the 12" barely fit and it took a little bit to get them to work and is not as stable as I would like. Plus the 20" would extend over my fuge allowing better light to it.
Any suggetions on a fish? I want just 1. Probably a blenny of some type. One that will mostly eat the pods and some bits of shimp once a week. The crab, shimp, and Nassarisus snails love Fridays.

Yeah and that was one of my first picks, but after reading about them, apparently, they are like the mandrin where they need a larger tank and lots of LR to provide them the food supply. Catalina maybe?

Forgot that about the catalina temp issues. Two spot? I am worried about the size of the tank more than anything else. I know the green striped ones would be great but I would never see the guy!!! LOL

Nice job on the 5.5. How about a little more sand depth and a yasha hasha shimp/gobi pair? They stay small and are really colorful.

Yashas can be a little on the touchy side. They are attractive fish, but I don't think a 5.5g would be an appropriate sized tank.
I really think the tank is too small for any fish, but if I were to try one it'd probably be a neon goby or a clow goby of some kind.

Thanks Flricordia!!!!! I have 2-3 inches of depth in it now. I thought about the shimp goby combo and would be neat. Perhaps when i get my bigger tank. I will transfer the blue coral bannded into it and put them in there. We'll see.
Clay, I have been told that the tank would be too small, as well. But with the fuge on there I would like to try a small goby. But I think you are right about the neon and the clown gobies. I think I will go with a yellow clown goby. Nice character. Not skittish. And will bring some additional color to the tank.
Thanks for the input all!!!

I would recommend the yellow clown goby, I just got one for my 8 gal a week ago and he's so funny! He comes right up to my fingers at feeding time and every time I pass the tank he stares me down like "Hey, you with the brine shrimp!"
What kind of shrimp is that in your other pic? it's really neat
