Here are a few pic's of my 50 gal tank, I drilled holes for overflow, return and a closed loop for more flow and used PVC piping for all the lines, some of the pics dont show cut-off valves but they were put on, also, the skimmerbox i made out of 1/4 inch acrylic, let me know what you think!
thanks

Looks good so far.
How long has it been set up and what type of corals are you eventually planning on putting in it? Very nice clean looking build.
Keep us posted.

Well to answer that I need to know what kind of lighting you are running on the tank.

150 MH 20000K, and 4 t5's Retrofit (2) 10Ks (2) Actinics, should be good for just about anything, even with the t5HO's

I agree that you should be good for just about anything. I personally like LPS and SPS. I like zoas as well, but most other soft corals don't do much for me. I like things like frogspawn, candy canes, acans, acros, millies, and montis just to name a few. I would start with some easy corals like zoas or other softies and from there progress (if you want to) to LPS and then to sps. Each time you make a step there are different needs. Generally your soft corals are the most forgiving (although there are some LPS corals that seem about bulletproof IME) and the farther up the ladder you go the less room for error you have and the more care requirements there are. Look at some pics of reef tanks and figure out what you like and then find out what the corals need in order to do well. The neat thing about reef tanks is that there is such a variety of life that you can put in them and there are no two that are alike. Enjoy the journey.
