For one thing I live in NH and have only had the MH's on since the fall, and the house is on the colder side. Temp is what I am working hard on but actuallty the otherway, presently I am having trouble keeping it warm enough when lights are off (just bought a new heater) but When it was warmer I had a 12" fan blowing over the top of the tank (the tank does not have a top).
The tank is an Inwall setup and the back is in a small dedicated fishrooom, so the top of the rank is not enclosed which helps. Just make sure you have PLENTY of circulation in your hood and you should be fine that is the key. The trade off is evaporation, I loose 1-1.5 gal aday so prepare for that.
The upgrade to MHs was the best thing I could have done for my tank.
I have what you are want to get 2 250 mh 14k and 2 65w pc Dual Actinic.
I think next time I get bulbs I'll go for 10k mh and go True Actinic, and try and boost my coral growth.
