so you people got nothing on me!!!

Corbin, these "fish doctas" as you call them, are veterinarians, NOT fish doctors! Vets get little, if any, training with aquatic species. These two have been in the business of selling pet items for years. They make their living by selling fish, dog shampoo, leashes, etc, so don't automatically assume they have the best interest of the fish at heart.
We are just trying to help you. This hobby is VERY expensive, and will get even more so if and when you end up replacing all your fish. It's frustrating when fish die after you've done everything right....there's no need to add fuel to the fire, by doing things that are not optimal for the fish.

New lights and its in front of a window. Your going to have some serious algae dude. Soooo you might want to take it easy on that lighting schedule for a while, break em in slowly.
Sure does make the tank look better though.

Corbin,
I'm sure that everyone has your best interest at heart, and more importantly the fish.
You say you have 5 years of experience and you have had these fish for 1.5 years in this tank, where are the fish that you had/have for the other 3.5 years.
Your tangs have a life expectancy of over 20 years, just something to think about.

slow down a bit guys, all of us need to remember a few things.
first off, LFS's are a ver VERY poor source of info. it seems all that ever happens when you ask them for advice, is purchases. i gotta wonder why, when most often it is not more porducts that you need.
second, eveyone here, evern the dreaded police are here as volunteers, everyone here only wants to help others, everyuone here has NOTHING to gain, NOT EVEN MONEY MADE. who would you prefer to get advice from? a docta, who only profits from his answers(thorugh more sales), or EXPERIENCED aquariists who gain satisfaction and notihing else from merely advising and helping? and MOSTLY we all care about OUR fishes, mine yours and ours.
third, this DOCTA is an IDIOT!!!!!
fourth, this is an open board, open to all, COOL THE LANGUAGE!!! ON TOP OF THAT, we will not tolerate flaming and fowl language
fifth, i hafta say that you were given very poor advise.
the minimum tank size for that type of fish, is only what a sales associate says is reccomended. these fish are active swimmers and should be in long tanks. some of them are NOT reef safe. AND, those 3 fish well exceeds the biological limits of a 55 gallon.
PLEASE, do as you want. but lets onot fight, and lets remember that we are all here with NOTHING to gain and only wish to help you to have a helathy, stable and beautiful system.
just remember, that when it is time ot return them, you may not realize it until they are stressed out and maybe even sickly. and as mentioned, you will get very little for them, but the LFS will charge much more, because it is a larger specimen(they may give you 15 bucks for a 50 dollar fish, and charge 80 because of its size whne they do resell it...... more profit from their helping you out, hmmmmmmmmmmmmm)
EVERYONE, let's forget about the police and try to get along, and if we can't lets use the report button or at least keep our cool and act civil towards each other here.

after you have your lights up and running for awhile maybe this book will help to i've never read it can't really afford the 50bucks for it. but u should be able too.
I hate being burned on these message boards ive made some mistakes. and after i get reamed by someone i feel like crap afterwards. I wouldn't want to kill my fish. and it sucks to see anyone else taking a risk of putting an exoctic pet at risk

HEHE. I enjoeyed this thread. Wat was this guy thinking??? Ya know, I bet he spent a crapload on that light (which is VERY nice) yet the corals will just die anyway becuz of all of the waste. The angel will eat the corals, the sailfin will become 1/5 the size of the tank, and the yeloow will burst into a firey ball of ICH. Carp, I dont care how harsh u r, yer the MAN. At least he has a powerhead in there. Im thinking maybe the dresser collapse and house flood? . Tell me, is this tank on the TOP floor? More water for the rest of the house. Not to mention that there is also a volitan, a bunch of damsels and some other fish that I dont know what. Now, were just gonna say that this is a perfect example of the evil of the LFS, yet he is the perfect example of a kid that cannot take other peoples opinions, even wen we try to help out. So, in the end, well just wait until we see that post that has the sad smiley face on the side, from corbin, saying rip, and he goes on to explain the horrible death of all of his fish, first beginning with the volitan devouring the damsels, all down to the last ich infested fish. The END.

Reefer44 is right you make him sound like a idiot. Just because he made a mistake I'm sure it was his lfs who told him this. Magic_carp you are just plain annoying all you are doing is putting people down.

Flatzboy and whomever else, just go back and look at the rest of the thread. Notive the kid TOTALLY acting like an A hole wen we were trying to tell him what was right and wrong???? That is why we got pissed. Maybe if he had been like "o, thanx guys. Geex, I got some work to do". But no, it was like " O, u guys are so DUMB. Read THIS from this guy who sells fish. He tells me that wat I am doing is right and YOU are all wrong so stop telling me wat to do". In general, that can tick anyone off. Carp is a lil overdoing it, but hes like that, and its kinda funny sumtimes. Really, go through corbins posts and think yer respoonse over.

Hey, now come on everyone...im only 15 but please for the sake of SWF.com please mature a bit........please, who cares if...um...who ever started this thread dident know, forgive and froget...however you spell it, also i dont think hes commin back to this thread...lol
BTW, i understand why you guys are mad but really now, were all knowlageable in SW in certian parts of this hobbie...nobody knows it all, now even the really old guys here...jk, But untill somone knows it all i saiy we at least try to stop flamming each other, just point out the mistakes....and person who started this...oh, corbin, you have been given a LOT of great advice, IMO you just took it wrong, no big deal, hole you have fun in the SW hobbie...newbe

Hey Corbin - PLEASE LISTEN - Your tank on a dresser is not a good idea. I had a 20 on my kids dresser and it sunk that whole side of the dresser down so the top drawer would not open. It took about a 9 months to get that way so I am hoping your dresser can hack the weight - but I would toss a level on top of it ever once in a while to make sure it doesn't get out of level - go corner to corner (diagnolly) (sp?) because that kind of warping will result in your fish and 55 gallons of water - getting spread all over the floor.
Hey folks - lay off - I am sure we all went  when we saw the fish - but no need to flame the dude - be polite and fill him in and do it without sounding like you are
and try not to sound too pompous ....

And name calling is just wrong!
