hey can i ask- how do you afford all this if you are in 5th grade?? im 14 and i cant afford it!!! i have lots of work to do! ????? how dou do it?

I think the stocking list is great, but your lighting might be a issue!! I was told not to do HQI in wooden canopy cause it's a fire hazard. I went with a 14" canopy as well, it's being built right now. It's for my 90G Oceanic Bowfront RR. I went with 2-250w SE MH retrofit kits with ARO Electronic Ballast and 20k XM bulbs. There will be no need for supplement lighting with this setup. :happyfish

Probably about the same as any other cyle...Just once your levels spike and come back down to zero...probably about a month.

You can, but you would need supplement lighting with 14k. You need to get Actinics, get 110w VHO Super Actinics URI. Just remember it is a fire hazard with HQI in your wooden canopy!!! :happyfish

But it's all a individual preference, after looking at a local reefer's tank with 250w MH retrofit SE XM-20k, that's when I decided to go with it. I LOVE the color it gives out. I run 2-175w SE MH 14k and 2-110w VHO Super Actinics on my existing 55g reef, I don't mind it plus my corals are doing great under it. Some people prefer 10k's because it give better growth of corals. But they also have supplement lighting with Actinics. With 20k's, there's no need for supplement lighting. :happyfish
