My anenome is dying..?

Ok so today I purchased a haitan sea anenome, he is oozing some brownish looking junk, well not really sure if he is oozing it or not but its in his mouth area, it looks like gross stuff off live rock almost but more planty looking... and also a couple of his tentacles have shrivled.. whats going on?

Did you add him carefully like it suggests on the site here? You know, the whole drip-drip system? Usually, that is the reason that anenome have problems. From my experience, anenome are even harder to add successfully than fish. But that's just me.... :D
 
Yeah, I just flopped mine into the tank when i got it. He didnt look good but in like a month he looked great. And its been like a year and hes doing great.

Anemones are extremely delicate creatures. Its surprising to hear that psychoskater has kept a poorly introduced anemone for as long as he says he has. Im not sure of the number but i think it was less than 4% of anemones for the hobby survive in the tank. Thats a 96% failure rate. Alot of dead anemones.

What are your lighting conditions.
Do you have a pretty strong current?
Are you feeding meaty foods?
do you use any kine of phytoplankton?
