MY aqua c remora skimmer & noise?

my aqua remora skimmer is great. It came with a 1200 MJ pump.
i have a 60 gal FOWLR setup. you guys think if i change the pump from the 1200 to my MJ 900 the noise level will reduce. What about the effectiveness of the skimmer? My tank is only 60 gal so with the MJ 900 pump with not much bioload im sure it should be fine right???

if your concern is the hissing sound this can be cut conciderably with an upgraded O-ring for the collection cup. you can get it from emailing Jason at Aqua-C, and they are free.

All i can tell you then is he's playing Dumb because he doesnt want to give away anymore of the O-Rings. when i emailed him about the noise of my urchin pro he requested that i send my address and a few weeks later i got this.

You can also go to the hardware or pool supply place and buy an O ring like the one in the picture.

nah, he was really cool about it. at first he misunderstood and was ready to send one out, and to clarify any confusion in our emails i reiterated about the "special" o ring, to which he replied that there's only one, same as they've always been. if he was tired of giving them away for free, don't you think he would of offered me a link or instructions on how i could buy one? why would he hoard them all to himself?

they may very well all be the same size Now but when I got the new one from them last Aug with the two side by side the new one was considerably thicker then the old. the one they sent me (the thick one) is about 1/4" diameter, the old one was about 1/8" all new remora's and urchin's may come with the thicker one now so they may no longer offer it out.
as AFAIK the collection cups are the same on the remora/urchin regardless of pro or non pro. the differences are in tower height and pump. I'm not so sure the pump makes a difference on the pro's because I replaced mine with a Mag 7 and the performance is the same as with the Mag 3. :notsure:

really? that's weird, there's a sizeable difference between the two, (mag 3/7). i've got a maxi-jet 1200 on mine, and it works very well.

the only difference with the mag 7 over the mag 3 is i had to pick the collection cup up about 3/4".
the amount of skimmate and the color of it remained the same. owning a Euro-Reef skimmer as well i am not impressed with the preformance of the Aqua-C at all and really wish i had got another ER.

really, that's cool. what kind of euro reef do you own? i've never had one myself but people who do seem to swear by them. i'm running a berlin turbo classic on my 55 and i've got nothing but good things to say about it.
