Dan,
After a month, the holes have not clogged, I was going to take the divider out and clean it soon. Even if it clogs it will spill over through the clean holes.

so what do you think about installing a peice of glass to block in the powerhead, skimmer, etc
should i keep the 20 tall or do the 18 tall? (18tall could fit more stuff (hang on things) and would be higher up closer to the Power compact

i would go with an 18. is the 20 high an all glass tank? i think that the 18 would just be more practical, that way you could add more stuff to hang on as you were stating.
good luck

yeah the 20 gal is the regular one. all glass.
it has more room in the back but is wider so stuff would want to hit the wall
20 gal fuge for a 29 gal reef would be a bit overkill right?
but then theres bang guys 900gal.
anyway. Just trying to figure out a way to work the section with the skimmer, and the return pump
if i were to install short glass pieces, would the algae find its way up and over?
this is what my idea is
would it work? any changes needed?

dude thats exactly what i would do have a baffle before where you can stich stuff and a baffle after, that way you can put a ton of stuff in there. thats perfect. the algae is gonna stay put and you will be fine!
good luck

in the CPR hang on refug, the inlet baffel is real short, and the outlet one is tall, should i copy that or do it just like i made?

id do it equal just as you made it. if they are equal in size you should also have a nice steady flow of water through the fuge area. i woudl definately go just as you have planned.
good luck

really. cool.
So you say go for the 20 gal if i can fit it okay?
actually, looking at it, its huge, in aspect to my 29 gal.
I may even decide to go with a 10 gal. Who knows. 10, 15 or 18 tall is what i am doing
So 55 watts 50/50 PC is what you say huh?
and you'll send me some of that algae?
thanks

oh yea
what size tank do you think i should go for?
trashing the 20 i guess.. too big.
10-18 dunno.

id say 18. i think an 18 would be sweet. i just think a 20 high would be too deep and too hard to work with in a tank. i really think though that a 20 long would be perfect, but id say go with the 18
good luck

i cant fit the 20 long
so its a 18 tall or the 15. I'll decide at the store i guess.
so you say 18? its really not that much bigger anyway, so why not!
and its taller, so closer to the lights!

I'm also in the process of building a refugium for my newly started 29 gal tank. I wonder what is a good overflow? I looked at AMIRICLE..(sloppy lookin') at least in the ads @ 700GPH, Tidepool Silent Overflow Skimmer @600Gph, or the CPR Continous @ 300Gph. They are all about $60 to $70.
Any recommendations would be highly appreciated.

i have toyed with them all
cpr by far looks the best and works the best IMO
for my 29 gal i got the CS90... a bit overkill now that i am going to use my sump as a refugium.
The lfs sold it to me as a CS50 and it turned out to be a 90. oh well
see ya

Hey Dan,
Snowing like crazy..Not leaving till tomorrow for Fla. Just wanted to warn you about the ball valve to slow down the flow from the CPR90. Restrict the flow on the return pump more to slow the flow. If you restrict the flow on the overflow line too much and something or some critter gets stuck in the valve, you can overflow the display tank! You will not hurt the return pump by slowing the flow coming out of it. Just a heads up that I received from someone who has been there...done that... and got soaked. GOOD LUCK!
