My ph was good. The you at aquarium depot looked at my salinity and said its low bit ok for fish not for corals which I have not added any. my tanks two months old. I started feeding my fish brine shrimp because I thought it would be tasty for them and more real. but last night I Fed them pellets with color enhancer.

So do you test your own water? You really should keep track of this yourself. Do you know what your readings are?

I bought the test strips. but I don't trust them... so every week I go to where I get my aquarium supplys(mixed water, live rock, live stock) and have them test my water as well as check out new animals. I have been testing my water every few days with the strips at home. Every week for the past 4 weeks my waters been good. except for last time my salinity was down. I added tap water to the sumpl a few times because the filter was blowing bubbles. ( in the middle of the night when half awake) so I think that's why the salinity was low. maybe a water change will help. I will go do a water strip test now and post results. I am loving this site by the way, very handy:)

I went to the fish store. my water test great my salt was 0.125 I think. I showed the guy who I always see and he said that my fish look like they had a cold. that they were covered in a film. so he said do a fresh water dip for three minutes. I did that but they don't look much better

What tests are you taking?
OMG. Fish had a cold? Fish do not get colds. You can not rely on advise from local stores. Many of those working there have about as much knowledge as you do.
Are the fish eating and swimming normally?
Can you post all of your water readings for us?

Yeah, well since posting two days ago 2 fish died. two look sick. The fresh water dip helped for the rest of that day. I think my fish have ich. I herd you can turn the water up to 85 degrees and add 1 tbl spoon salt per gallon. and keep the fish in the hospital tank for ten days. is this true? What about live rock and sand and invertebrates? can you leave that stuff in the tank or take it out into its own hospital tank?

How can pH be 7.5-8.2? The lower level would be harmful to fish, the upper level perfect.
Do you see what salt-like dots on fish?

Wll I'm using test strips, so my guess is my ph is good. my ph went below 8.0 about 6 weeks ago. yeah there's salt like spots on the black fish, and fins. this sucks and is so discouraging . my tanks only three months old and when I finally see results from my cycling doing well and becoming established I get ich. terrible

Are you referring to that glob of white on fish? That's not ich. Is that bumpy?
Ich is an extremely common parasite to fish. To avoid it getting in to your tank, you have to exercises good quarantine practices for all new fish.
