ok well these wild zoas that were blue and then turned more brown than anything had been covered by some halimeda macro algae shadding them alot... i pulled all the algae away and boom! the blue is back... hmmm so it looks like i need to hide these bad boys then only take them out for a sneak at light every few weeks lol
whats the deal i guess some zoas need very very lil light

Nice murph, i hope my new blues look like yours someday. Right now they are pretty small, iput them under full MH, maybe i will give them more shade, seems to agree with yours

I've found that blue zoa's almost look there best when placed almost inside a cave or under realy filtered light. I had a nice colony of Tubbs Blues a while back that faded to brown then back to blue when they got knocked behind some LR and forgoten about...Looks nice

thanks i got these guys a while back then they faded to brown so i really didnt care about them anymore and the macro overgrew them in this spot... but i dug them out and they were bright blue again....
i think im guna find these guys a hidden cave the hide in that i can still watch them.... they have grown in amount which is good i just want them to hold this color

How about an experiment, divide the colony into halfs or fourths and place around the tank, documenting what happens to the colors and size....

Murph, those are amazing!!!
Once I get my tank up and running I would love to work out a trade for some.

Im no expert but im sure that if something is blue it usually means that it is a deep water species. Putting them in too much light makes them change to a brighter color to reflect unwanted light. But again i am no expert.

The Caribbean blue zoanthids are deep water, but the ones from Indonesia are much brighter blue, but I am unsure if they are deep water too or not. The ones you got Murph look like Caribbean blues.
:joy:

DUDE! If in the process of your splitting that rock apart you happen to have just 2 extra polyps I could be there in 15 minutes........
I sure would like to know what store you got them at. I have NEVER seen anything like those in the stores that I go to. You can tell me here or e-mail me skschneiderNOSPAM@Adelphia.net You know take out the NOSAPM part.

Looking great jbarbier at jdbyrider dot com it only take a few polyps to make it happen 3-5 tops, just let me know, I have some nice sps and some other polyps and such to trade...

I'd like to jump on the bandwagon with these too.

If you ever start fragging any off, I would be overly ecstatic if you would consider sending a couple polyps this way. I don't have anything of value for trade right (aside from some green zoas) now but I might have other stuff when the time comes that you do anything. My email is m0nk@techdimension.net.
