my Carpet anemone

I am somewhat worried about my 5in carpet. i put him in the tank and he stayed there for awhile then he moved about 4 in and now has stopped. what i can't figure out is why he shrinks. about 3/4 of the time he is shruken only 1/4 of the time he is fully expanded. and he is randomly open. i have had him for 8 days now. Is it just because he is not use to the time the lights are on? is the light that comes through my window confusing him? or are they supposed to bunch up a lot. Also what should i feed him and how often? i have sliversides.

Give it time.My carpet did that for about 2 weeks.I feed mine krill 1 to 2 times a week.My clown feeds him daily.They are 2 of a kind.He sleeps in it and feeds it.It still shrivels up into almost nothing and it is about 9 inches around.I used to panic myself,but it always seems to come out again!!

thanks. I guess i will try not to panic. and i don't have krill so i will hack a silverside in half and see if he will take it
P.S. any tips for catching crabs? he ate a polyp of of my live rock and i am mad at him. tonight i will try to lure him out with a silver side. hope it works.
