My cat

Well, it seems that my cat is sick, well sicker than normal. Spook, my black long haired cat, is not acting at all normal. My wife took him to the vet this afternoon and they said that the thyroid medication wasnt helping. Considering he went from 13 pounds down to 6 and I think he is at 3 now, doesnt take a veternarian to tell you that hes sick. That and the growth on the thyroid has gotten bigger, he isnt even eating the wet food, barely drinks tuna fish juice, we can tell he is really sick. He also can barely pick up his head. I knew something was up when he came right up to my face and curled up practally around my neck this evening. He has never done that and I can hear him purr. I have never heard him purr before. I certainly dont want to wake up to a passed on cat, but I dont want him to suffer either. Neither my wife nor I have the heart to put him down right now. I cant tell if he is suffering or not. We will get the results of the blood work tomorrow on him and I hope its just something simple that a pill bottle can fix. Its just not like him to turn down the wet food though.
This is a cat who pulled through fatty liver disease. Google it if you dont know, but the survival rates are really low. Considering he had that when he was 2 years old, and he made it this long, 10 years now, he is starting to live on borrowed time. This cat has been through plenty and stuck around. He is the only animal that actually performs their duty in the house. He is an excellent mouser and winter is coming. I do not know if Percy will pickup on the mousing abilities or not. Anywho, for those who partake in it, prayers for Spook if you can.

Poor Kitty, it really doesn’t sound good for him making it, but one never knows with a cat. There is a reason folks claim they have 9 lives. He sounds like a tough little fighter.
God in his wisdom knows what is best, so I say a prayer of hope with you.

Just got back from the vet. His body is eating his muscles as he doesnt have any fat. He has a problem with his potasium as well. Looks like he will be on a liquid diet for as long as he refuses to eat solids. We had to pill him with his thyroid medicine and we are getting that compacted (stronger liquid form) and we have to crush the potasium medicine and put it into tuna juice.
He is a fighter, but I dont know if he can pull through this one. The prayers are appreciated, thank you.
I have not taken so much alergy medicine in such a long time. I know its my fault for having him in my lap, but right now, I dont care. Going to go snuggle with him as much as he will let me.

Some of you might be wondering whats going on with Spook. Well, since asking for and receiving the external assistance, he has improved. He is now able to hold his head up, walk around better, and eat solid food. We got his compounded medicine today and gave him his first dose. He still climbs into my lap whenever he gets a chance and I dont push him away. My alergies havent been worse since we first got the cats some 10 years ago. I must remember to buy stock in the company that makes benedryl. Thank you all for your assistance.

He is a tough little fighter, a little prayer, lots of love and nine lives...he had everything he needed to make it. Good news indeed.
