I just got out of the shower and i thought my watchman goby died and the cleaner shrimp was eating him but the goby was actually letting the shrimp clean him. IM SO EXCITED!
i bought the cleaner shrimp in an attempt to save two dying damsels but for the longest time none of my fish would get near him and the goby acted like he hated him the most. the cleaner shrimp seemed so lonely and alway got excited anytime anything changes in the tank.. im soo glad he is finally doing his job.. just had to tell somebody. thanks for listening!

jds, how long have you had your cleaner shrimp? I've had mine for two months and they still don't clean the fish. I have seen one attempt to run out from behind a rock and "grab" a fish but the fish took off.

yep.. i got the exact reaction from my other fish. the damsels didnt make it due to their stubborness! uhm i think hes been in there for about 2 weeks now. the lfs said if the fish need cleaning the cleaner shrimp will jump on them right away. the marking on the shrimp are supposed to indecate that they arent a threat to the fish. (odd cause my mom thinks they look poisonous). i guess it could make a difference if ur fish are wild or aquacultured.. i think its more of a mutual agreement between the fish.. when the fish need cleaning theyll go to the shrimp and vise versa. does your shrimp clean ur hand or anything else u put in the tank. my was cleaning my hydrmeter yesterday and it tried to clean the bag that my fern kelerpa was in..

MY fish won't have anything to do with my cleaner either. But my cleaner does love to clean me. He is all over my hand when I put it in there. He is a very curious little booger.
