My clowns had babies

I noticed over the holiday's that they had eggs. and on new years night they hatched. I'm not set-up to try and raise them and it seems like way more work then I would want to do, but it was pretty cool to see they were having babies. Whish it was easier to raise them, hate to just let them go like that.

Yeah, that is a bummer. At least you know they can do it and can put the equipment together in the future, should you want to try your hand at it.

sad but true
sure would like to raise some, anybody got any extra rotifers they need to get rid of

just kidding, still to much work, changing water everyday, catching them when they hatch, just don't have the time for all that.

Once mating and they start breeding, how long do they lay eggs? You say about every two weeks - but when do they stop? Two weeks for the rest of their lives? Once mated do they sometimes separate?

Not sure but a friend has had a mating pair that has been laying eggs and hatching babies for several years now, he tried raising them but has had no luck so far.

That cool. I have a pair of clowns in my tank that have hosted a BTA and i'm wondering if/when they will become mated. Once is definately the dominant one, and chases the other one around the tank. The dominant one will stay in the BTA all day and night expect to eat, and the other one will just sleep in the BTA.
I ask because I too at some point would like to try and raise the fry, but i've heard the first few times they mate just to watch, see what times they lay, when they hatch, get the "rythme" down. Just something new and interesting to try:)

Like clock work, Lay eggs in one day, eggs stay on rock for 10 days to develope , 3 or 4 days later, do it again. Give or take a day here or there. They will typicaly do it year round unless theres health or enviromental issues. They want breed if there not happy or healthy.
