Every night my clowns stay on top of the tank almost out of the water. Doting the day they swim around but stay on left side of tank they try to get on top of each other? Any know wuhat they are doing?

i think all fish have a "territory"....especially if they have an anenome that hosts them! If no anenome, than ya thats their spot were they feel comfortable. Do u have rockwork with hiding spots?
annddddd.....u want good water movement! It should be up to the bottom of the trim at least! Why cant the return be underwater>? Were just tryin to help so sry if i sound pushy.

YES, it should be higher...I have a HOB filter on my 29G and the filter return is right under the water
That is the same thing my clowns do, but it is the back right corner. Wait till they start laying eggs in the corner they will never leave it and will defend against other fish coming to close.
