My Coral Banded Shrimp got eaten!!!

I came home to find my CBS dead and nothing left of it but the head.
Its remains were next to my Pink Spotted Goby's burrow.
Is it possible that the goby killed the CBS and ate him or could the shrimp have died and then been eaten?
The CBS did hang out around the burrow, maybe the goby was being territorial?
Anyone ever have a goby eat a shrimp?
By the way, the CBS did not die as a result of bad water conditions.

Are you sure its not just leftover from a molt. I doubt the goby killed it but I have heard strang things do happen in this hobby.

Absolutely sure that it's not a molt.
His long white antenas are still attached to his head.
Besides, I can always see where my shrimp are because of the way my tank is aquascaped.

when mine molts it has the antenas and all there. they may hide for a day or so so it still could be a molt.

Not a molt.
I could see the stuff in its head.
The shrimp is 100% dead and mostly eaten.
Has anyone ever had a pink sotted goby or any other type of goby eat a shrimp?

Is the Goby the only other livestock you have in the tank that could have done it ??
Another CBS could have killed it, if you have others.

I once had a Coral Banded Shrimp. Beautiful creatures. Mine was literaly ripped to shreds on day when I came home early on a saturday morning. :scared: His main body was missing and his head was gone. The tail remained with a few legs and the antennes. It turns out my leopard Grouper became a little to aquainted with him. OOPS!

He was the only CBS in the tank and had been in the tank for a couple of months without being harassed by anything.
The goby is about 4 inches long and the only likely suspect.
I ust don't know if the CBS died and then got eaten or was slaughtered by the goby?

My guess is he died of________ (fill in blank) and then was eaten by the other tankmates. Waste not want not, seems to be the rule.

I had him for about 3 months.
He molted about every two weeks and ate fine.
He did hang out near the goby's burrow, maybe he picked a fight and lost?
I don't want to label my goby a shrimp eater cause I'd have to get rid of him.
My cleaner shrimp and peppermint shrimp have not been harmed.....yet.
