Stability is more important when it comes to temperature than a specific number. You don't want big temperature swings.

Temps in the natural ocean changes, but never the SG. So I disagree there. I always kept my tank pretty warm, my type of fish are happier. It was 82/84 for 2 years and has climbed in summer to 86 but not for long, I lowered it to 80/82 I expect in summer it will go to 84 on very warm days.
