my corals seem happier when the MH is off

How long have you had the MH's for? Your corals could still be acclimating to the higher lighting.

two months. they have gone through the accimilating process already.
actually let me rephrase. the mushrooms seem happier with MH off. one of the brains seems happier with MH off. mushrooms i can understand, the brain i don't get.

Lets see some pics when lights are on, and when lights are off. Maybe that will help.

no...your corals just open up more to try and absorb more lighting after the MH is shut off... thats all
