My dad has this really odd damsel, it likes to be pet:

Im not kidding. Ill try to get a shot of this odd behavior.
He will hover up to the surface and chill waiting for you to stick you finger in, and stoke his back. Cool little guy, follows you around his tank. Likes to be pet.

Crazy fish. My GF has a betta that likes to be pet. it will come to your finger and wrap it tailfin around it and cling to you finger. It actually rubs against you like a cat

when my tank was freshwater i had a savirum that liked to be pet. I would stick my finger in and stroke its back, it was halarious.

my girlfriends betta also likes to be pet, they are a strange fish. She has 3 bettas and each one has a crazy personality.

That's very odd. You would think that instinctively fish would avoid rubbing off their protective slime coats. Are you sure the damsel doesn't have some sort of parasite.
Nah, damsel's are just stupid. It isn't like it matters though, their so hardy I'm sure rubbing off some slime won't be an issue.
