My Deer died :(

Well I am heart broken....There has been a female deer that has been coming in my back field for months....she and I have gotten very use to each other, I talk to her, and she just continues to eat :)

Here she is last night with some g/f's she brought over

Well tonight we went out to eat with our son (my step) and his wife.....coming down the driveway she jumped out and hit the truck :( I jumped out and she was knocked out....but alive.....so I had my huband and son get her in the truck and we took her to the house......we put her in a sheet hammock and laid her on the grass.....she started to come to....we noticed she had a broken leg, so we put a splint and ace bandage, I put water in a cup, and wet her mouth with a turkey baster to keep her hydrated,,,,,she had some blood coming out, but her ribs and all seemed intact....she kept trying to get up....so we thought maybe we were making her nervous....our son and his wife left, and we went inside....I got changed, went back out.....and hse had died

here she is with the bandage before she died

The only good thing was we took the husbands truck and not my mustang.....and there was no damage to the truck.....

Hi,

She hit your truck meowzer? I’m so sorry, I know you feel awful. Deer just are not able to understand how fast a vehicle moves and how hard they are. The hardest thing they know is a tree and it stands still. She may have died from the shock of the whole experience. A broken leg is a death sentence to a wild animal, what were you going to do with her if she survived?
Are you SURE it was your deer? Maybe it was one of the girl friends...they all look so much alike

Personally I hate to see deer, if I can see them they are too close to the road, or driveway. Everyone oos and ahs when they see them, I know it’s just me but I would be happy if never laid eyes on one except in a picture taken from deep, deep in the woods.

Lovethesea, it wasn't mother nature that killed the deer. Mother nature is running out of room for the deer to run free.

+1 on the broken leg death sentence. Not to sound heartless but hows your truck? I remember my Dad hitting about a half grown deer in his chevy Malibu. Little critter did a ridiculous amount of damage.

Not a mark on the truck....she kinda hit it sideways I think....and possibly the back wheel hit her....I guess we got lucky on that one

as I said earlier.....I guess it was a good thing we didn't have my mustang....we always take that, but since the back seat is so small, we took the truck so our kids would not be squished.....

GUESS WHAT.............I have been looking out back all day...and my deer is there

Apparently this was one of the g/f's :( BUT NOT MINE....I knew it was her, cause she has a mark on her side (the other one kinda had one too) and when I talked to her, she looked at me wagged her tail, and kept eating....

I am soooooo happy mine didn't die, but still saddened that the other one did....I know they were both mothers, I have seen (and held) the younguns

BUT MY DEER IS BACK

Hi,

Now go get deer whistles, I don't know how good they are but either that or play music loud with the windows open as you drive down your driveway...LOL

I'm glad it wasn't your deer

I think my old car is known in the animal world as "The Killer on Wheels". I killed dogs, opossums, deer, armadillo, owl (yes owl!), ....

Not sure why that car was a magnet to animals. I tried to avoid them but it happens so fast!

it's too bad you couldn't have donated the meat to a local shelter. it's pretenderized...

glad it wasn't your deer and there's nothing wrong with the truck
