the ball valve back to the tank isnt needed on my skimmer but i added one anyways so that i can adjust my water level better. Add one and it should help you.

how high should the water level be to get the best results. Also do you think I have enough air going through it?

my water level is about 1 or 2 inches above the return pipe.
Im not sure how much those air pumps are pumping. The air pump i have pushes a ton of air.

it does pump hot air but so far my tank temp hasn't changed. Still run at 81-82 with halides on.

if we did we couldn't post them here.
i use the Coralife Super Luft Pump - SL-65 it has 4 outputs of 3.9 PSI2.3 cubic feet/min (65 liters/min) im sure if you google it you can find it for around $59.99 " dont buy it for more then that " not sure if this pump would work for you but its great for my twin tower system. also you can turn off outher outlets on it if you plan to run less then 4 airstones.

Serious Though You Should Go To The Store Like Diy Or Home Depot Lowes What Ever And Buy Yourself Some Jb Weld, Hose Fitting And A Hose Clamp For The Leaking Pvc Air Hose Mess Before It Turns Into A Large Problem Then You Will Be Doing It Right. Hate To Be So Harsh But Someone Has To. Later Pimp

well thanks for you comment.. that pic was taken when the skimmer was first tried out and it did leak a little but like i said earlier it leaked around the toilet flange and not the air hoses. so i can tell you haven't read the whole post. my skimmer doesn't leak at all right now and has been running for around a month nonstop.
but thanks for the advice. if my air hoses start leaking ill think about what you said.
and about your skimper comment i would like to see you buy a skimmer for how much i have spent on building this one that preforms as well. move along troll move along

Not sure if I would use COOPER/BRASS fittings on a SW tank. My 1.12 cents....( Its not really 2 cents anymore....with the way the dollar is against the yen)
