My eel has gotten mean

I have been trying to restock my tank after a power outage killed all my fish except my 12 yr old SFE eel. The eel's about 2' long.The problem is the only fish that he doesn't kill is a dwaf lion.He's eaten 2 clowns,2 kole tangs,2 damsels and now a large Hawian hawk. I use to have no problem with other fish as long as I kept him fed but now it doen't seem to matter. I have been feeding him twice aday to keep him happy.I was surprized when he ate the hawk because the day before he ate a bunch of squid so he couldn't have been hungry but in the morning the hawk was gone.What other fish could I try to keep with the eel and the lion?BTW I now have a generator so this shouldn't happen again

not totally uncommon for Snowflakes. I have found them to be a mixed bag, when small their docile and fine, when they get some size they get more -shall we say attitude. However its not all the SFE which do this.
How much and how often do you feed this SFE, often the key to preventing potshotting is keepin the eel well feed
In my opinion you have to make a choice now that you know this SFE is potshotting fish. Keep it and not have small fish, or get rid of it.
Let me ask a more important question...how do you know the eel is eating the fish? do you actually see it in the act? are you sure the fish just aren't dying in the rockwork

I have had this eel for a long time and he has never been this bad .He has eaten his share of small fish because I forrgot to feed him. But I was told that he shouldn't attack anything that he couldn't eat whole so I tried a kole tang but after 2 days I found it 's tail section only. The tang was very healthy and doing a good job on the algea. I thought it might have been just one of those things so I got the largest one the lfs had and tried again but in after a few days he had a large bite on the top of his head and died a short tme after.The rest of the fish I never found.The hawk was a great fish he lasted about a week he was a very agressive fish and would take all the food that I was trying to feed the eel and lion. Only after he was full could they eat.I am feeding them 2 times a day just to try to keep him full. What other fish could I try?
