My evaporation water rig thing is not working

So I made this and it was working but now when I put water in it, it drains all out. Am I doing something wrong?
I made something to plug the outlet so I could fill it up, put the lid on, then take the cap off and it all drained out. So I didnt use the cap but white I am filling it up its draining almost as fast as I am filling it up before I can quickly put the lid back on.

You have an air leak into the holding tank somewhere.

Ok I figured it out. I dont think there was an air pocket in the line to start with. So I drained all the water out, lifted it up and set it back down into the water then filled it back up again and it worked.
whew!

Good thing I used water from the tank to test it out and not freshwater HA
