my first cap pics & ?'s

finally got my first cap....
its pink and about 5 inches wide....
so anything special i need to know about this coral...??
i heard they grow pretty fast??

thanks! yeah its a nice pink right now they said it could change colors is this true?? depending on the lights they are under....
the 20K's make it hard to see the true color on a camera which kinda sucks but it is really nice in person...

Judging from the other corals in the tank, are you running MH's?

yeah i have 2 -250W double ended 20K bulbs along with 200W of 10K PC lighting over my 100 gallon tank...
i think it should be fine with the lighting i got i was just wandering about growth rates and such

Yes that is true to an extent. There are many, many thinks that effect the corals color... lighting, alkalinity level, available nutrients, on so on. Often times they will darken up when put in a new tank and eventually return to a lighter color.

yeah ive noticed that some of the other SPS pieces ive gotten have started getting more vibrant... my stag is turning a dark blue and some other branching one i got is turning from brown to green....

it grows fast and if you'd like, u can chip off a piece (1 cm squared) of that right now and have it grow on another area of your tank. i think i have like 7 places where a cap is growing at the moment. The cap in the picture was a half inch frag about 4-5 months ago. Be careful with placement because as you know, it grows out like a plate and shadows anything underneath. You might try some unique orientations and creative orientations in hopes that they grow into a cool quirky fasion...ask Tizzo how she did hers =). I remember asking her the same questions you just asked when i got the small frag.

why are they hard to find or something??
thats what i was told it was it wasnt as colorful when i first got it but it was a blue tone....
i got it for $20 and its already growing i can see the tops getting longer
