My tank as been up for 10 weeks, besides a diatom outbbreak (which is taken are of) my tank is doing great. 29g, w/ 10g sump, 10g fuge (w/chaeto).
I was wondering how long someone is too wait before adding coral. Now I am a complete noob when it comes to coral. I have 4x t5 lighting 10k/actinic. 60lbs LR, 50lb LS. I have one fish, domino damsel.
What is a good colorful starter?
Ammonia- 0
Ph- 8.2
Trite- 0
Trate-0
Phos- 0
Calcium-480
KH- i tested and it was good, dont remember what reading though.
Should I still wait for tank to get "established". Or if my tests are good can I start with something? What do you guys suggest? Thanks!

you can add a few corals with no problem. look into shrooms, zoanthids. ricordia, brains, leathers. there are lots of thigs you should be able to add with no problem . some of them even benifit from a not so perfect conDition tank which is why they are considered good starter corals

i know that we are talking about the corals but just to let u know get the damsel out and find a goby or something else because the will chase and kill all new fish. they are real buggers and in the end i had to break down my tank to get mine out. good luck with the corals i have zoo and i love them.

Nice. Thanks for replies. If I have learned anything about this hobby its patience. I thought I remebered hearing, "no coral untill established". But its nice to know I can start if I want to!
Do zoo's spread quickly? I mean like how long will 5, turn into 10?

Unfortunetly this is my only mistake thus far in my new build. (getting a domino damsel) I was told at my LFS that this damsel is very easy to care for, and he will not have probs with other peaceful fish. Then after I read up on him I find myself very upset with my LFS. MY only LFS.
Funny though, this was the first time I have referenced getting him, and I get the bad stories, even in the reef forum
Kinda why I never posted "hey check out my new fish" lol
