Well after reading several threads on drilling tanks with a dremel...I decided to go for it to make my 10G refugium on my 55G tank. well, the pieces of glass I practiced on broke so I figured I might as well as try it on the 10G I had. Well after about 30 min of listening to the dremel...I had success! Just took some time and Patience(which I dont have a lot of) but it went a lot smoother then I though it would. Just go to Target and buy the Dremel 300 series that comes with the bit you need and you are set...just keep plenty of water on hand so it doesnt get too hot. I went around and did a guide line first and then followed that around several times. Very easy! If I can do it...anyone can!(sorry...little things excite me!)

Congrats!! Looks like a well done job.
My first time drilling a tank was my 200gal. with 3/4" glass. Had been drinking too much beer, got the bright idea and drilled it...and it didnt break.

Just go slow...its not hard at all! Like I said...If I can do it...anyone can! TRUST ME!! I am a chicken like you but I figured all I had to lose was the 5$ the tank cost...now if I was doing it on my main tank...I think Id pay to have it done or atleast order the drillsaw bit from the auction site! :happyfish

lol...I live in Florida...I am always in sandals or barefoot! but I actually drilled it from the inside out with a board on the outside. as foor hookup, currently I have the water going from my sump to the UV sterelizer(about 40-50GPH) to the fuge...then gravity feed back in the sump. Once it gets more established, I plan on having water go directly from the tank to the fudge and then back to the sump...but thats a few months down the road. its working fine thus far...Fingers crossed things start growing soon! A Memeber of the FMAS is giving me some cheato next week at the meeting plus I have some caulerpa in there already alongwith a few mangroves....For alll you plumbing experts! whats the best way to do this! any better ideas

Congrats.....I've said before it's not that hard and alittle unnerving and try drilling a couple 2" holes in a tank.....It does take patience, but well worth the end results as you can see!!!!! Again Congrats
