My first feather duster

Tonight I bought my first feather duster. The kid at the store didn't seem to know much about them but I figured I would get more help here anyway. I've been researching them but I couldn't find answers to certain questions. Can feather dusters move on their own? Do I have to place it where I want it? Right now I just laid it in an open section of the tank to see if it will move on its own. I would like to see it attached to a piece of live rock. Can I stick its foot(?) into a hole in the live rock? Any help and advice will be appreciated, thanks.

hell o i have some in my tank you can place them in a crevice or in the substrate so long as the get some inderect current they will be happy.i even had one jump tube!!!!!!!! and for weeks i thought he was dead
turns out the little bugger made a new tube and attached it to a spot on the back of my live rock where he was out of the light and couldnt be easily seen.below is a pic of mine when he was in his tube lol does yours look like the one i have?.

one of my dusters bailed ship and relocated under some of my rock.
i took the old tube out, and he seems to be growing a new one
he tunneled his way out of the old tube through the sand to his new home.

Dusters will also shed their crown from time to time so if you just see the cap floating around dont take the tube out because there is a good chance hes not dead. They are filter feeders so they need some form of current in order to maintain a food supply to them but you dont want water blasting on them or they will not come out and end up starving.
As the above poster said Coco worms are a different story.
