Watch your water params real closely...and for ick especially on the hippo. Survival rate on small tangs is poor, and on those in particular. They also need mature tanks.
Sorry to tell you, but you may be in for a rough ride for such a young tank.
If your LFS knew you had such a young tank, I would encourage you to find a new one.

It has nothing whatsoever to do with tank size and flaming. A completely unnecessary comment.

It is a very young tank, with a lot of fish. The tang issue is the least of the worries at this point. For one of those tiny tangs, I personally would prefer it in this size system to grow - albeit established and full of LR.

yup, a small tang like that is better off in a smaller tank imo. at least till he can defend himself a little better.

My concern was not the tang, but the amount of fish being added in a tank at one time, especially a new tank, which i am assuming it is since these are first fish, maybe the poster has a new larger setup then the 58

There is no Biofilter for the fish. There is going to be hard times ahead, I would ask the LFS to hold them for me and only take about half of them home for now. JMO

I was only going for the other problems cause the new part is already obsessed about.I guess dime-sized should be ok,just assumed there would be some flamming my way.

hey peeps, its been about a week or so and all the fish are doing great! The blue hippo swims aot around the front which is so cool. The one problem is that the Bangaii cardinals stay on the bottom of the tank, in stores i always saw them hovering at the top of the tank but not these guys... Everyone eats and the parameters are okay. So... i added a yellow tang and a toadstool leater coral!!! woohoo!!!

thats a lot of fish to add at once but congrats on ur purchase..are u planning on upgrading to a 125g 6' tank within the next year or so..i hope so...does ur lfs know how big ur tank is..if they do u need to find another lfs..IMO...i think ur at the max for fish tho..i thought only one goby per tank unless u have huge tank...

GOOD FOR YOU! ENJOY! TAKE IT SLOW!!!!! Sounds like y ou are keeping a close eye on everyting which is SUPER IMPORTANT for those kind of additions. But it is MUSIC to my eyes to read that all is doing well. If you actually heed any advice, stop now. RELAX. Maybe see how the params are doing in a month, then research getting the next specimen. Watch what happens, and worry more about your tank maturing than adding the next thing that catches your eye. NO OFFENSE> we have all done it, and want to save you the time, money, effort, adn kick in the nuts when the tank crashes. NO OFFENSE. PLEASE prove me wrong, but do NOT be challenged.

If you know what you're doing, then you can have success with all those fish. Tangs are hard and yellow ones can be aggressive. If the cardinals stay at the bottom it is better than them floating near the top, they are midwater fish, but they are more vunerable at the top. Bottom is safer.
It does seem like a lot of fish, but if they have plenty of food and hidding spaces then they could be alright. I have one firefish, I heard they are good singly, a blue tang, he was two inches and had been quarantined when I got him, and both have been great. Good luck.

i dono if you have a bigger tank than a 55 gal but tangs shouldnt be added to a tank that small. srry but if you are in for the long run than you will have to take the tangs back
