Hello, I am new to this aquarium. I need some feedback on this NANO Cube that I am planning on purchasing, It is a 24gal Nano Cube and It comes with the following :
*Built in & Stage Filtration
*Mechanical/Sponge filter
*Chemical/Activated Carbon
*Directional return nozzle
*Pump included.
*Compact Fluorescent Lighting System.
*2-24 Wat-50/50 Dual Spectrum Bulbs.
*3X brighter than traditional fluorescent lighting.
*Remote UL-Listed Electronic Ballast with Quick Disconnects.
*Heavy Duty German "Snap-In" bulb sockets.
Fan cooled "flip top" canopy.
*Fan cooled for cooler operation.
*Flips back for easy maintenance.
*Heavy duty ABS plastic.
Do I need to purchase any other supplies for this??
After it cycles with the Live Rock and Live Sand.................
I would like to get some Cleaner Crew, don't know how many yet?
4 Percula Clowns and some Corals.
What do you all think? I don't want to mess this up!

your :help: would be greatly appreciated.

those 4 clowns might fight for territory. how come you dont want other fish like gobies or cardinals, maybe basslets.

I have a 24 NANO by JBJ and I love it!!!! IT will be small..... but you will enjoy your experiance with it!
To speed up your cyclying process put a Coctail shirmp in there... it will greatly get the process going..... with somthing that you will not harm!!! Make sure you have salt on your list..... and a good water source like RO or distilled water!!!
4 clowns will not survive most likely you will end up with only 1 or 2 clowns..... cause if you get two that pair they will not want the others around .... killing them! And one could get very territorial, and kill them all!
Corals will be good in there as long as you go with stuff like leathers, mushrooms, ect...
Hope this helps ya out a bit......

Thanks alot Jerth and Exile. I think I'm going to buy my Nano Cube this weekend. What do you mean Jerth "with somthing that you will not harm"? Will the coctail shrimp harm the percula clown? I don't understand....... please explain. I can't find a picture of the Coctail Shrimp on this website. Is there another name for it?
When I start my Cycle with the LR and LS, should I just add the coctail shrimp? and when would I know when my tank has Cycle?
As for the percula's I didn't know they were that Territorial, I thought they were friendly.... I learn something new. I'll think about the gobies or cardinals, maybe basslets.
I do also want to add some coral, is there specific one's I should get? and how many can I add, along with leathers, mushrooms, ect...
Oh, and the equipment that the NANO CUBE comes with, is that ok? or do I need something else???
Thanks......

Ok you know the eating shrimps that you get at like buffetts and stuff? Cocktail shrimps that you eat with Cocktail sause, you toss a coupe dead ones (since they are all ready dead, you will not harm them........
.......)of those that have not been cooked in to your tank the first day you set it up, same day you introduce the sand and live rock, it will introduce waste in your system to start your cycle off in the right direction! And the nice thing about cycling with shrimp is that when the cycle is done you remove the left over shrimp in the tank and you still have all the benificial bacteria in your system with out the BIO LOAD.
You need to go get your self an amonia, nitrate, and nitrite test kits, These are the Basic test kits you should start off with, you will go through a "spike" when waste is intoduced in to your tank, hence using the shrimp. Once all these levels, go from 0 spike up as high as they go and return to 0 you have "Cycled". It can take any where from 2-9 weeks from diffrent accounts I have heard on this site.... mine personaly took 3 weeks.....
Percula's are one of the most freindly of the clowns, but they still have terrioriys they defend and in a 24 G 2 will be pushing the limit....... Maybe 2 clowns and a fire fish.... just something little that will not get too big. Make sure you read all the specifics on the fish that you get...... ACTUALLY JUST READ ABOUT EVERYTHING!!!!! IT HELPS OUT IN THE LONG RUN!!!!!!
Corals are alot diffrent than fish, you can add alot as long as your stay with in your lighing constaints. The only thing about corals is that you need to give them a little bit of room for groth, so they don't encroch on their neighbors... And space between depends on how much they grow.... and how agressive they are! Only having 48W on your tank will limit you considerably..... my JBJ nano came with 72W, almost double what you had and I was limited, that is why I am getting a Metal Halide lighting system....... that is a whole nother thread.....
....
Hope I helped out a bit..... read it over a couple of times to help with understanding it ( not trying to be rude, but this much info you can skip alot, that is alot to digest!!!)

Oh Duh.......... you're right Cocktail shrimp, I sorry, I didn't even realize it because I don't like sea food! LOL
But I like the Aquariums :happyfish .......... I have been reading up on this thread and learn a couple of things and by you helping me out. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know, like on the lighting situation. Should I get some Metal Halide lighting system? I would like to have a nice Reef Tank.

Doing great thanks for askin! I got rid of the bio balls and ceramic rings..... cause of some problems that can go wrong, and they are hard to clean! If you have alot of LR there is really no need for it, and in our tanks it is 24-36LBS. I left the sponges in, and some will tell you to remove them to, but I clean mine every week when I do the 10% water changes... Your "blue" lights only need to be ran during the night, I only use mine when I want to see my night time activities!!! But to run your white lights during the day and blues at night you will not have any problems that way either!!!! Hope this helps!
