My first saltwater tank - 80 Gallons

Hello I am new here and greatly considering buying my fish from here too when my tank is ready.
It has been my lifelong dream to own a saltwater tank. I've owned a 20 gallon freshwater for about 7 years now. Last night I made my dream come true when I bought this tank.
I have since moved the rocks around to stack them up higher on one side. As the person I bought it from said the fish would tend to hide way to much and I would never see them so she suggested rearranging the rocks. I also want to buy a solid color (dark blue or black) background to cover up everything behind the tank (the window and the cords)

As you can see the water has only been in it for about an hour or so when I took these pictures

looks good!! you might want to add more LR for filtration
I agree more LR.
What are your plans for the tank? Reef? FOWLR?(fish only with live rock if you don't know what that is)

There are so many things that are going through my head as to what I want in it. That i'm going crazy lol. I know I want to try and get a smaller lion fish as that is something I've always wanted. Just not sure what other fish would work well. I would love to get like a few shrimp, and maybe even a starfish but not sure what to do as of yet as this is my first one.

Do you know what kind of lighting you have on the tank? That will give you a view of what you can and cant have.

Ok, that means it's probable not that many watts if it only holds two bulbs.. At this point it looks like a fish only, fowlr, or my personal favorite, a aggressive tank!
You could update your lighting for a reef tank, but there are also many other things you would have to buy to get a full blown reef.
It is all up to you.. SO MANY CHOICES!!!!!!!!!

Just thought I would throw a few ideas at you since it is your first. Some fish can not be mixed with other fish, Your LFS (local Fish Store) should be able to tell you which ones assuming they care about fish and not money. Second, like others have stated, get a exact or atleast a good idea of where you want the tank to end up. Fish only with live rock, Fish only, reef. This will save you time and money. Buying things twice gets very costly. In my experience i have gone to the full extent of ablitys and equipment from the start, so if i do decide to upgrade or change what i want i already have the right equipment. Also a great tip that most new reefers may or maynot know "WASH EVERYTHING." just a good rule of thumb even if it is new. (except the lights of course)lol. Well good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of reefing.

That is very good info to fallow!
EDIT: Depending on your budget I would invest in a sump and protien skimmer if you do not have them.

If you are liking the "aggressive" idea, like the lion fish and sf eel, I would recomend start asking questions in the aggressive forum. (They have great people in that forum who are tons of help!)
You are going to get people who don't think an eel and lion will go together but it is all on the ONE fish YOU have. They all don't act the same way.
There are so many ideas.. How about you tell us what you like.
