Yes I know that is a bit redundant but up until now by smallest tank has been a 20gl long. I have a 5 gal that is ready for fish and I have a cinnamon clown that is too aggressive for the 20g. (please dont yell at me I think I know the answer already but I need to ask anyway) Is he too big to put into the 5gal? Obviously he would be the only fish in there and there isnt much rock so he has most of the tank. I hate to get rid of him but I would like to put more than 1 fish in my 20 and cant as long as the cinnamon is there. Unfortunately the lfs wasnt clear on how territorial they can be. I appreciate your suggestions

I put one in my 5.5 before, and it did pretty good for couple of months but then after that you could just see it get weaker. I think 5 gallon might be a little tough for a cinammon, it'll live for sure as long as you have enough oxygen in the tank, but you could just see it'll be unhappy. I had to trade mine in and got a percula instead.

thanks ogredawg. I have a small maroon clown currently in the 5gal and he seems to be happy but hes not been in it long. I was hoping to put him in the 20 with a couple of damsels maybe. I was told that the maroon was too aggressive to put other fish with him but he is the one that gets beat up by everyone else. Its a pretty passive fish for an agressive species. He mostly hides in the corner and behind the rocks even when hes in the tank alone so I figured a damsel or two might be ok to put in with him but only if he can go back in the 20. Do you think the maroon would get along with a percula or are different species of clowns just not compatible?

unfortunately I didnt get the maroon out in time. I thought I got him out with minimal damage but about 24 hours after putting him a 5gal by himself his tail completely disappeared (I have no idea what happened to the tail. When I moved him you could tell it had been nipped at but he still had a tail fin
)and the next morning he was dead. So now I have a 5gal tank waiting for fish. Are there any small fish that I could put a couple in a tank that size??

Hi there. I'm no expert, but I am cycling my first SW tank. It's a 5 gal. I have LR and I plan on putting only one small fish in there as it's a small tank. I was told that some fish you could consider are listed on http://www.***********.com/product/s...fm?pCatId=2124 There they have listed a number of fish that stay small. I am looking into getting the Ocellaris Clownfish (A.K.A False Percula ). I know it's not the real thing, but I can't be too picky as it's such a small aquarium compared to the ocean...
I'm sure you can find a fish that you like on that site though. GL.
