My first SWF.com Order (Advise)

My first order from this site is due to arrive tomorrow via Fed Ex. Problem is, they originally told me it was due to arrive today and then changed it yesterday afternoon. This is going to result in me not being home to get the acclimation started and my wife doesn't want to try it alone. Does anyone know if the fish will be ok in their shipping bags until I get home at approx. 5:00 EST??
Thanks for your help!!

They should be fine,
you can either leave them in the box until you get home, or have your wife open the box and float the stuff (be sure the lights are off until the stuff is out of the bag).
Or do what I always did, take a loooong lunch.

air supply will last for a while....as bird said, let it float in the tank with lights off and when you get home you can start your acclimation......

Ok, I took your advise and I'm home on a loooooong lunch!! The fish and corals are here and I'm pleased to say they arrived warm and toasty even though I'm in the freezing cold Northeast. The new additions are acclimating as I write this. I am truly impressed with the way these fish arrived. Healthy, warm and equally as important, about half the price of my LFS. Heck, I didn't even need to go pick them up. Just a few clicks and poof, there here. Boy am I glad I found this site!!!

You only get free shipping if its over $79 right? I mean that saves a lot if you want to spend a lot... but what if you just want one or two things?

In this hobby $79 is pocket change. Think of what we all have into setting these tanks up. Let me add that the fish I received are at least an inch larger than I expected. I got a great deal. Oh, and they gave me an extra piece of Green Ricordia for free. The advice I get from this site combined with the quality of the specimens and packaging etc. makes me a new, loyal customer. :joy:

Yes I realize that, but theres no point in paying more for things than you have to. Also, $79 is never pocket change to a college student.

No I'm sure thats very true... that does sound like an excellent deal. My whole thing was what if I want say... a pair of clowns? I guess they wont sell that alone. If i order from somwhere else, they charge like $50 s&h. Now, my LPS sells them for like $16.99. I guess the real issue (like with everything on the internet) is that you have to buy in bulk to save, since s&h wipes out any savings on small items. I guess for swf they have to charge at least $79 to turn a profit. I just wish that wasnt the case. I'll probably order some live rock, sand, and a reef pack. If i stager the orders i guess i could tack on smaller things as well. LOL youre right though, this hobby is $$$!

I happy to report that all the new arrivals are doing very well in their new home. The Mandarin seems to be very pleased with the huge Pod population we have. He's been moving all over the rocks picking at them for hours.

So far so good. :joy:

I loved the LR I got here and will be soon purchasing one of the reef packages. Then later on I will be getting Corals a few at a time.

well i got my order today from them and 8 out of the 20 red hermits were just shells and 2 of my emerald crabs were white and look dead. I hope they come back to life. But other then that the rest of the order looks great.

With the hermits, sometimes they hide inside their shells pretty good to the point you can't see them inside, best to put them into your tank and observe! :happyfish

Vanquish you might try a post to go in with someone in your area. Or maybe there's a reef club locally. I'm a very happy customer and I've saved a ton. They stand behind there stuff too, if it comes in dead they will replace it as long as you follow the easy directions.
