My first tank. How bout it?

Well, I've entered the marine realm and absolutely am enjoying it. It thought I might share my pics here and see what you think - and see if you all have any tips.
It is a fish only tank and has been set up for 2 months now. I've been slowly inserting fish over the past month and everything is great so far.
I began by buying a wornout used acrylic tank and buffed the acrylic with Novus 1,2,&3. I refinished the base and hood. I set up the tank and seeded with a piece of live rock from a friend's tank.
I almost blocked off the tunnels with a type of screen enabling me to put community on one side and aggressive on the other, but now my biggest joy is watching the fish swim from side to side of the tank through the tunnels - so I ditched that idea.
I still have a lot to learn but am enjoying watching it develop.
Well, enough said, here's the pictures:
Here was the mess that I initially bought. Tons of scratches and I had to repair a crack in the back.

Here is my first attempt at aquascaping. I added sandstone from outside. I tested water pH to ensure no change, and even though it seemed fine at 8.2, I still was worried about future problems, so I bought the Penn Plax medieval castle and used a tan Krylon Fusion to lighten the castes.

Here is the final setup. This is just after cycling and I have added one damsel to make sure all is well.

I have added most of my fish over time now. All that I have added since this picture are my 2 clowns. Also, you can barely see in the above picture that the bubbles are turned on and below they are off. I also am torn about the bubbles. I kind of like them on, and I also like them off. I have minimized salt creep by adding an additional layer of plexi just below the top of the tank - no creep now at all. But if I ever decide to go with coral, then I'll need to upgrade my lighting and remove the plexi to allow max light through.

Here is a pic of the Tang and the Valentini passing through the lower tube together. The Valentini likes to follow the Tang around for some reason.

I will be adding a couple more fish eventually. I plan on a Longnose Butterfly and possibly a Regal Tang (but worred about ick and aggression b/w two tangs). I also am going to go ahead and set up a QT just in case something goes wrong. Anyway, let me know what you think and if you have any ideas.

it's a 55 gal. And yeah, I've thought of replacing with live rock and eventually coral - maybe down the road. First tank - still learning. Hope to eventually build a 200-300 gal. Seeing other photos on here is making me excited about that project. I have to save up some $$ first though. Overall I have about $850 invested total so far - which I thought was a lot, but after seeing other people's totals, I realize it's not too much. Haven't invested in good lighting yet though.

u should invest in good lights even tho u dont got coral, good lights make ur tank come alive lol

The connecting tubes are really cool! You could keep your castles, but I would definitely put some cured live rock in there for filtration. There are some live plants that look similar to the fake ones you have right now -- that would ensure better water quality, too. (Look in the inverts section on here.)
Since it hasn't been said yet, I guess I'll be the bearer of bad news. No tang is going to be happy in a 55g in the long run. I wish there was some mini-tang just for all us who have less than 150g tanks. :(
Also, the valentini puffer is way cute.

I was surprised that it was only a 55 also. That is what I was told by the seller. I have looked online to try to find one to verify, but haven't found anything like it. The fella I bought it from bought it at our local fish shop, but they only order their acrylic tanks. IT does have a Sea Clear sticker on the front, but I haven't found any other similar made by Sea Clear currently. Anyway, I'm not sure how to calculate the actual gallon amount - but during 10 gallon water changes - it does seem to be around 55 total.
Anyway, I think I did decent with the tank. The seller said he bought the tank and stand for $1500 initially - over 10 years ago. It has been sitting empty for 7 years. He sold it to me for $150 with canister filter.
And yeah, I'm planning on better lights soon. Just got to research more and find what's best.

I have thought about more live rock. I do understand the benefit of filtration.
But, I didn't realize that there are similar live plants. Do you know if they are easily kept?
And yeah, I realize that the tang will eventually outgrow my 55. I plan to have my 2-300 built by then. What is their ave growth rate?

Each square is 21.5'' wide, 12'' deep, and 24'' high. The front corners of the squares are rounded. Each tube is 4'' long and 6'' in diameter.
Thanks for doing the math. I forget how to convert all that.
