you arent boiling anything at 82deg. I had my tank reaching 85deg with no problems. Fans do cause a bit more evaporation but that is partially whats taking the heat away. not enough to make it an issue in your size tank.

This is very true, evaporation is actually a good thing if you want to cool down your tank, so don't try and stop it. I lose 1.5 gallons a day (I think 2 now that it's summer). Get a top-off if you don't want to worry about refilling every day.

Also keep in mind that there are fluctuations in real life as well...we end up getting animals from all over the world many in different climates...i really think consistency as everyone has said is most important. There are anemones who sit very happy at about 36 degrees and there are those same anemones who chill in our tanks at 78-82 degrees...but it is consistent.

Any one who has dived or snorkel in tropical waters knows that there can be temp fluctuations. Even rapid ones as currents change. Moveing pockets of colder water are encountered on pretty much every dive.
Things can get overstated in this hobby and paranoia over temp control is one of them IMO. Anything between 74 and 84 should not be a major problem FME and most definatly occures in the wild.

I had an experience of my fish boiling to death once luckily I had no casualties, my heater broke and the temp in my tank went from about 79 to about 95! luckily I got it down with ice and icepacks
