My tank has been set up since oct 03-
90 gal 30 gal sump aqua c protein skimmer ,
2 802 power heads 3 110w pc lights 100 rock 100 sand .
ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrates 0 ph 8.2 temp 80.
corals and mushrooms are doing great-
NOW whats going on - 3 percula clowns dead , 2 black damsels dead , small scooter blennie dead , small maxima clam dead.
clam died first , then several days later I saw ich on a clown then the other then the damsel , today the blennie. WHAts going on here ! I think the water change stress the fish maybe or not .
I do not use ro water , but I read diatoms do not kill fish , I am going to set up ro this weekend.
I have now in my tank a small queen angel and is perfect it even feeds from my hand , one clown , one chromis , one black damsel ,
2 shrimps , some snails , hermits.
my filtration is extremly good, with also prefilters , bulks drilled in back of tank .
Note: there are always discussions on over crowed tanks , I don't think this was the case . I forgot to tell you I am also running a large wet dry built behind my tank that drains into my sump.
AGAIN MY READINGS ARE FINE ! IS THERE HELP OUT THERE WHAT OTHER TESTS CAN I take .
thank you , your help would be deeply help full

I just went through a similar thing in my tank. Do any of your fish have red blotches or fin rot? It may be a bacterial infection like I had. My fish started dropping like flies with no warning. It wasn't until my yellow tang got red blotches that I figured it was bacterial. figure it out and act quick if you wish to save the remaining fish.

Ich is the problem. It will kill all your fish if not treated. It will attack new fish that you introduce to the tank. There's no mystery here.

NewFish, ich is the answer...there is no other answer that I can see from the info you have provided. Of course ich that breaks out in a tank and goes untreated, will kill your fish--sooner or later. Usually sooner. Yes, you can have light cases of ich that go virtually unnoticed and then, with the least bit of stress on fish and/or tank, you have a major infestation going where your fish drop like flies. With ich present in the aquaria it does not take much stress to cause an all out major problem either.
When you said you had ich and all your fish were dying, it seemed to me that you were looking for another causation for the fish dying besides the ich?? As if the ich were not something that would cause this major problem. Perhaps I’m wrong in my interpretation, but that is how I perceived it. And, I simply told you that it is a major problem, and that is why your fish are dying....unless you have something else going on in the tank that I didn't get from what you posted.
Do you need advise with how to treat the ich?? You have a reef tank, so you can not effectively treat ich in the reef tank. You will need to place all fish in a hospital tank and treat them, preferably with hyposalinity.
I'm glad to help you if I can, but it just seemed to me that you had already ID-ed the problem, you just weren't considering it to be a "major" factor with your dying fish...and I’m tell you that it is.
Anyone who has a reef tank and does not QT first is simply sitting on a powder keg of ich. It is only a matter of time before it blows up and ruins your tank as well as you hobby experience. That is why with reef tanks particularly, it is so important to QT before putting fish in the tank. Otherwise, you either have to let all your fish die off when ich breaks out, and it is more likely to happen than not, or rip apart your tank chasing down fish after the fact--which compromises your reef ecosystem. If you want recommendations on “reef safe” treatments, neither Terry nor myself will endorse that. Both of us have seen the longer term ill-effect of such meds on invertebrate life in the reef tank. If you’d like help with setting up a QT, The FAQ section has a good deal of info just on that subject. Hyposalinity procedures have been posted in this forum many times, but, since I’ve seen you in the Disease Forum, I figured you’d know the procedure or how to look it up with the Search Feature. Seriously, don’t take offense, but what else can I help you with?
Perhaps someone else is seeing problems with your tank, besides the ich, that I’m not getting. If so, please post, as I’d be interested in other opinions.
