My Wish List
So these are the fish that I like - I have a 37g column with probably 20-30lbs of LR, I don't have it yet though (all the LR)
I'm cycling still...Penguin 200 bio-wheel, and will eventually get skimmer.
I know I cannot put ALL of these fish in here, but what would be a good list, considering, I would like to eventually do a reef tank from these fish? :help:
Fish:
*Pygmy Angel
*Yellow Pygmy Angel (more reef safe than above)
*Chalk Basslet
*Redlip Blenny or Bicolor
*2 Percula clownfish (definately want this, would like to have a mated pair)
*Green Chromis (will these get aggressive?)
*Fridmani Dottyback or
*Purple Pseudochromis or
*Purpleback Pseudochromis
*Flame Hawkfish
*Filament Flasher Wrasse
*Six Line Wrasse
Inverts:
*Hawaiian Strawberry Crab
*Sally Lightfoot Crab
*Some feather dusters
*2 cleaner shrimp
*2 Mexican Turbo Snails
*15 Astrea Snails
*Fromia Starfish (eventually)
*3 Scarlet hermit Crabs
*3 Blueleg Hermit Crab
One Possible Stocking List(I'll put them in this order too?)
Inverts (this seems like alot, especially since i have a column tank, opinions?)
*2 Mexican Turbo Snails
*15 Astrea Snails
*3 Scarlet hermit Crabs
*3 Blueleg Hermit Crab
*Hawaiian Strawberry Crab
*Sally Lightfoot Crab
*Feather Dusters (3)
*2 cleaner shrimp
Fish (this a little too much or good?)
*2 Percula Clowns
*Purpleback Pseudochromis
*Flame Hawkfish (will it eat my inverts?)
*if not flame, then Fridmani Dottyback
*Redlip Blenny
*Yellow Pygmy Angel
If anyone would like to post a list that they think would be great (especially fish that I haven't listed) that would be awesome as well! :joy:

Well u should first figure out what u wanna do a fishonly or a reef tank. If u wanna do a reef tank u should watch what fish u get some will pick at ur corals. If u add Live rock in ur tank and u keep the penguin in there i would remove the bio wheels and use ur live rock for ur biological filtration if u keep ur bio wheel in the it might keep ur nitrates to high. Your inverts sound like they are all real good choices, and for ur fish some angels will pick at corals. Royal grammas are cool i have one of those.

Purple Pseudochromis or
*Purpleback Pseudochromis
The are aggressive, I had to get rid of mine because he bullied everyone else. If you still want one make him the absolut last.

I had a purple pseudo that was very docile.

I like the fridmani... so that would probably be a good choice.
Volcom - I would like to start with FO, but eventually move up to a reef... so, if I keep the inverts, and choose these fish, 1) is it too much fish? 2) Are they all reef-safe and inverts safe?
Inverts (as stated above)
Fish
2 Percula Clowns (4 inches)
Fridmani dottyback (3 inches)
Flame hawkfish (again, can I keep inverts with this one safely?) (2 inches)
Redlip Blenny (If the hawkfish grows well, the blenny is safe, right?) (3 inches)
Royal Gramma (2 inches)
That is about 1 fish per every 3 gallons, probably too much from what most people say... however, the clowns will pick an area of the tank, right? The dottaback and gramma are both kind of the same way, I believe...The blenny will stay on the bottom along with the hawkfish --- in a 37g tall... this seems ok with all the inverts too? If not I'll cut out some of the fish I guess... :notsure:

what would i have to remove then? Inverts don't really matter for bioload do they? They clean as much as they produce....
So take out the blenny or the dottyback? or would i have to do both?

very true. you should only have one fish for every ten gallons of water. you would have way to much of a bioloadwith that many fish.

So, I'll probably end up with 2 percs, a fridmani dottyback, and a royal gramma....good?
and when the tank is more established, could i add a star?

Isnt that a little of a blanket statement. Fish size must account for somthing? As well as maybe filtration, sump, fuge. Im just asking not telling just asking

I thought we were going by inches to gallons, when did we switch to gallons per fish??

It depends on what kind of star you want. Chocolate chip stars would be fine (after six months) but they aren't reef safe. Linckias and fromias will not survive in your size tank.

I think the 1 fish for every 10g is just to estimate (small tank = 1 small fish for every 10g) Maybe??
Anyways, how about a fromia star?

If you know what you are doimg than that many fish is fine imo. But add them slowly over time if you are going to add that much

that is correct... if you have a 37 gal tank your not gonna have big fish anywho because they need bigger tanks all their own. its a guarantee if you have a small tank you will have small fish. or they will be stressed.
