My Frag swap winnings! Pics!

Today was our spring fragswap here in Dallas. We always have a live fish raffle along with tons of other prizes. I had been wanting a new fish for a few months now so I decided to concentrate my efforts there. I bought 25 tickets for $20 and put 20 of them in the fish raffle and let my boyfriend place the other five. Well, the result was that I won 4 fish! I have pics of them all but I will need 1 or 2 more posts to get them all up.
fish I won: Yellow Coris Wrasse, Flame Angel, Powder Blue Tang, Flasher Wrasse (about $180 worth of fish for the bargain basement price of $20!)
corals I purchased: Green Brain, green and purple acan 6 heads, green torch 5 heads, Pink birds nest about tennis ball sized.
all and all I made out like a bandit! I LOVE fragswaps!!! I only spent $90 total including raffle tickets!

These are more pics.... The flasher wrasse is especially stressed out. Nobody noticed him in the tank at the swap because he was huddled in the back corner trying to be invisible. He was huddling in this corner of my tank but now I cant find him. I'm sure he's hiding in the rocks. My chalk basslet did the same thing for the first few days, and now he's bolder than my clowns! I dont know what it was about me and the color green today but it seems that most of the corals I bought were green! hmmm. oh well, enjoy!

Congrats.....I sure wish I could go to those things
Do you live in southern oklahoma? It might be worth it for you to make the drive for one. The raffles are really awsome and there are always multiple winners for each product or animal. Plus there are so many venders and club members there to sell or trade. we are only an hour from Chawktaw casino. Thanks for the congrat!

sure sure....I'lll make sure to let you guys know. It will definately be in october or november. I dont think they would wait for it to get cold and september seems too early. The last two have been held in Richardson (if he knows where that is) just on the east side of dallas.

I know there is a fish auction coming up in Dallas as well, but I think it is fresh water only. I've read that you can place a board against your glass, which will help the flasher wrasse see his/her reflection. I guess they flash more when they see their reflection similar to a beta. Your so lucky winning all of those fish, that must have been incredibly exciting.
Is that a Dallas club meeting, or a commercial event? Either way it sounds like a great time.

i am looking into moving back to dallas.
(where i am from) Where are these events held and how many people attend?
Is it like a backyard BBQ or like a convention center type thing?

No these events are held in large rented rooms. This one didn't have a huge turn out but to give you an idea I know they sold close to 3000 raffle tickets! Alot of the club's sponcers will be there selling along with club members...... it's a good place to trade or buy.

congrat! i am jealous of all ur stuff for less than $100.
Thank you! It wasn't really luck on my part..... my boyfriend claims that his bending the ticket method is what won it for us, but I say it's because we put 20 tickets in the little box for the fish. either way it was still exciting!

At least you guys have a reef club and stuff like that. There is nothing in AZ and it sucks. If I were still not working, I would totally want to get one started up. But as it is, I live at my job....
Would so so cool to have frag swaps and to do neat things like that. It would also be really educational and I think it could benefit a lot of people in the area.

thanks guys! Yes the bubble just keeps getting bigger and bigger! I think that it may have reached its max though...... i hope. Having the club has been really really benificial thing for me. I didn't know anything or have a clue as to what to do with corals until I joined this club.... they gave me corals and said "take these.... if they survive then come back and get some others". They always answered my questions and the meetings every month are always itneresting and educational. I'll post when we are going to have our next swap and anybody close enough is welcome to come!
