Hey, I have wasted money on motorcycles, wasted God only knows how much on engines and various hotrod misc over the years but to see the look she gets when someone comments on it to her, or her seeing it sparkle in perfect light really is priceless.
Everyone knows I am cheap- but on her ring I saved, scrimped, shopped, and turned over every stone for resources I could to build hers. I am ALWAYS happy when someone who knows jewelry sees the ring or if someone comments on it. She beams like a princess. Not purley about vanity, but also about respect and while I am not a wealthy man, I would like to think that she knows this and understands what I had to do to bring this ring to her.
A 400 dollar ring from the mall just doesnt cut it when your talking about a Vow you are making FOREVER to someone that is the most important thing in your life. Go without eating, sell your car, do whatever it takes to bring home whatever her mind's eye of what the best looking and highest quality ring on the planet. Then give it ALL to her.

my boyfriend and i are lookin at engagment rings and the good places that i have found are kays, gordens, zales, and as cheap as it sounds overstock.com
there really is no resone to buy a realy expensive engagment ring, spend the money on the wedding ring
hope that helps and good luck poping the question lol, i cant wait till my guy gets on one knee
That is what she said, I don't really care. But I do want her to know that I really do love her more than fishtanks. Sadly I think she is worried about that. That is why I want to get something really nice. That and she really isn't all that bad. What I want to do is get one of those ring sets, so it matches. And she will wear it forever.

I don't know, it seems to me that if she needs a $10k ring to prove that she's the most important thing in your life, well...
On the other hand, I'm not even close to getting married, so really, what do I know?

It's not so much about what she needs but more about us guys wanting to do something special for the women in our lives.

It would seem pretty dumb to buy online. It really doesn't seem safe.

Yeah that is the ring, I get to pick it up on thursday

There was no way I was going to buy it . It had an ok quality stone between 1/2 and 3/4 carat.
So I ended up buying a flawless 1.13 round stone for $4000 and took the picture of the the ring she wanted to a jeweler and he recreated it perfectly for $2000.
So I ended up getting a bigger and better identical ring for $3000 cheaper.
I did almost the exact same thing, but my girl never knew, adn I designed the ring based on ones i liked. In my opinion, get a private jeweler or jewelry designer. They can usually take you through the whole process from stone to design to engraving at a much better price than any store or big name place will. Also, if you find one that deals out of their home, there is no overhead, adn the price gets even lower.BEST WISHES!

I have also bought a ring online from that giant auction block in cyberspace, adn it turned out great, but it was appraised and certified and came with originals of both appraisal and cert. But it was also a LIVE AUCTION, which is kinda scary. But I got a 2300 ring for less than 400 bux. Not bad. It does not compare to the ring I chose and designed though, value and beauty alike.

Update, I found out that one of my friends, has a friend who is a jewler as a friend who has made his millions and sells custom rings at his cost, because it is his hobby! The one he bought for his wife he paid 1500 dollars, And it appraised for over 6000. Hehe
I'm going to be able to buy my girl a really nice ring for really cheap.

I am glad for you, I spent 1600 on my wifes engagment, wedding band and went on a 16 day honeymoon to hawaii, but now that it is 11 years later I wish I would not have spent that much on the ring, for the 10 year I bought her a 1 carat past present future ring which almost cost as much as the wedding ring, so you always will have to buy another ring later on if she is really into jewlery.

I have sadly considered this, ran it by her, she said she didn't care. But I want something she can brag about. And not have to hide a certain fact.
