Hey all, I just wanted to tell all of you that helped me with my questions regarding eel keeping and selection what eel I ended up with. Everything is going great so far. But I still have yet another question....how much water movement do morays prefer? I currently have 4 powerheads running, would that be excessive? I will try to post a better pic once he comes out a little more. My camera doesnt do him justice, the gold on him is very bright and his tail is completly golden.

This is my setup:
50 Gal
45 lbs LR
~100 lbs LS
Remora Skimmer w/ overflow box
Fluval canister ( the LFS suggested it before i knew better )
PC Lighting (started as a reek tank)
4 160 Gph powerheads

Flow doesnt matter, and by the looks of the hair algae(if thats what I see on the rocks) I would definatly leave the power heads in to prevent more build, more algae and bad water conditions. Might want to test the water to see whats feeding that algae, if its PO4, that wont hurt the eel, but if its NO2/3 you might want to get on trying to take care of that. (more water changes, RO/DI water etc...)
The eel looks awesome BTW, Im jelous of your new addition. I have a zebra, but he's boring and hides all day..

Yes unfortunately that is hair algae. I didnt want to shell out the 200 bucks for a RO/DI unit so i use distilled water. I tested the water the day before my eel arrived and the water conditions were perfect. Any suggestions on how to get it under control?
He is about 12" maybe 14"
