MY kinda new STINGRAY

Hey guys i got a cali. stingray about 3 weeks ago and he is awesome!!!!!

He eats very well and is pretty neat looking.
but i do have a few questions:
1---He alaways pops up and down the side of the glass
2---My eel had been hiding alot in the rock work and i thought not much of it and then i got the stingray and 3 days later my eel was dead with a bite mark which looked like my stingrays mouth but bigger

Hope you haver a huge tank for that thing. They get almost 2' in diameter. Assuming you mean the California Round or Spotted Stingray. Like Eels, they prefer to stay on the substrate so its no surprise they would fight over territory.

Yea but one thing is he will pop up and down the glass from time to time-like almost he is happy because he only does it when he's had a good meal or is feelin good i guess you could say

What kind of substrate do you have? They prefer a fine sand or muddy bottom, anything rougher might scratch their body and would explain why they don't want to use the substrate to poop on.

Well all appears fine with the Ray. Who knows about the Eel.
It looks like a spotted ray, its still going to get too big for that tank but should be ok for now.

No matter which specimen you have purchased, even the 240 gallon is going to be too small. Gallons mean nothing, its all about the footprint, so why not purchase a small 6'x2' poly. tank and keep this Ray thriving for life? As for why does it swim up and down the glass? All Rays do it, freshwater, saltwater, they all do it so its nothing to worry about.

yea thats true cause you could have a 8000 gallon tank but it only be 10 inches wide and really tall.
But when you say a 6'*2' poly tank what do you mean its 6 ft long and 2 ft wide?
also could you show me a picture of a tank like this

He means a hexagon or circular tank. Those are better for Rays. One other thing i just found out about those rays is they prefer cooler water ~72 degrees and so don't mesh well with tropical saltwater fish.
