My leopard shark

I bought a leopard shark about a week ago and really haven't seen it eat but one time. It ate a small chunk out of the shark formula cube. His eyes have just cleared and I want to make sure I feed him correctly and not overdue it. What else should I throw in with his diet and how much?

What size tank do you have him in? If it's the 125 as in your profile that size is way too small for a leopard. If the animal is crowded it will not eat properly or if it has been newly added it may take up to a week before it will eat. These animals require the best care you can give them and then some.

He is still a baby, about 18". He's in the 125 but I am getting ready to get a larger tank. I have had him in this tank for about 5 days.

What do you mean his eyes just cleared up? I hope you aren't confusing the life cycle of a fluke for it to be "clearing up"

Hi I had lepard sharks and I fed them salmon, octopus, chubs, squid and whole fish, they need the bacteria in there guts you realy must feed these sharks often they have much higher motabolisoms than many sharks. I have had about 10 diff kinds and none had to be fed like my lepords. As for the tank he will be fine for a little while but you must get him into a bigger one fairly soon. LOL
You should also check to see if there is any electrical current in the water this can reak havak on them messing with all there sensory systoms. It is easy to check, use an ohm meter. If you have current from your pumps buy a tank grounding kit they are very cheap

ohhhhhhhhh man! I hope you realize who you bought. Those guys get huge. 6ft+ I hope the "Bigger tank" you plan on getting is around 500-1000 gallons minimum. I have a 500 gallon double bullnose tank in storage that I had two smoothound sharks in before I moved and I still dont feel that is a good enough home for a leapord. They may be happy now but they grow quick and will soon be cramped. Good luck.

Ned to know something else. I have read not to have anything in my tank with the shark. I ahve a few small rocks making a cave and a large rock wedge in a corner to make a cave. I was also told obviusly that they are more of a nocturnel species. Is this true? Should I remove all rocks from the tank? My shark still is not eating. I have tried garlic with the krill, silversides, brine and have tried live foods. NOTHING!!!!!! What do I do?

Novice-appx 20-22''.
Pimp5047-If you covered shipping as well, yes. Like I said mattiej has first dibs at it, we've been playing email tag for a few weeks now, if he does not want it whoever brings the money first gets it. I can put up pics if anybody is interested. Also if anybody is interested I will acclimate my salinity and temperature to match the tank it is going in by one degree per week. I would also like pics of the setup and the filtration that it is going in before I will sell it. Quite frankly the tank I have it in is cruel for it, I should have never purchased it, lesson learned I guess. I am currently 75 degrees avg. and about 1.026. Temp would be a little lower, but I guess I'm gonna have to turn the air conditioning on soon.

Smoothie is good, about 15'' hasn't grown nearly as fast as the leopard. Jumped out on me twice when cleaning the tank, it's like they know exactly where the open spot is and boom they're out and flopping around.

Tony I will be taking the leopard. Sorry but for some odd reason all my bill collectors actually want me to pay me bills so I have to work. If it weren't for my bills I'd be a rich man.
Seriously though I will send you an email and we can work out the details. Most likely I'll have the free time next week (week of May 17) to pick the fella up but we'll work out the details.
Can't wait for memorial day weekend as I am planning a fishing/collecting trip to North Carolina for sharpnose sharks. Also have a South Carolina trip planned for end of June for bonnets. How I have to suffer for my hobby!!!:hilarious

A couple reasons. First I want to make the tank with a couple more stingrays and no sharks. Second I would like to see the leopard go to a good home while it can. Third it keeps splashing water on the bigscreen and leather furniture which is right next to the tank, and I cannot put covers on or the tank gets too hot. I thought about more sharks, but I think after the smoothound is gone, I'm all done with sharks, just going to keep some rays.
