My lion ate my puffer?

I woke up this morning and I cant find my pocupine puffer. My lion fish has a very very full belly, so he is the suspect.
The lion fish is about 3 inches and the puffer was about two inches. It didnt look like the lion could ever swallow the puffer.
Can the lion eat the puffer? If so, is he in danger because of the puffers poisonous membrane or spines?
I may still find the puffer, just making sure lion will be ok just in case.

Looks like he cleaned out a lot of ghost shrimp that I was trying to get the puffer to eat. I didn't expect him to load up that much.

What are you feeding your puffer ghost shrimp before? Plus, why are you just throwing them all in the tank. That is a quick way to lead to high nitrates. I would just get the fish on a daily, bi-daily habit of eating and feed the lion whatever you feed him, and give the puffer live blackworms until he eats frozen. That is what I did for my striped aronthron puffer.

The porcupine puffer is new in the tank, only a few days. I wanted to make sure he is feeling well and has the food drive. The ghost shrimp got him going and he ate well.
The lionfish was fed silver sides and was nice and full. He finished off the ghost shrimp that I was trying to entice the puffer with and thats why he looked so full.
Ghost shrimp dont last long in my tank, so I wasnt worried about putting quite a few of them in the tank at the same time.
My Nitrates are under control, thank you for asking.
