What are your water parameters? What type of CUC do you have in the tank? If you found remains, sounds like they died of something else and the cleanup crew partially took care of the bodies.

Ummm... because a newly added fish without a QT is a main cause of disease introduction to a DT. But sometimes it isn't what the new guy will bring, but the stress he will create causing the long term residents to fall ill?
What CUC do you have?

everything was/is good. i have one banded shrimp that probly cleaned up the fish.
What is considered good is a very wide range.
Please give exact parameters.
- pH
- temp
- nitrate
- nitrite
- ammonia
- salinity

See, I knew something was up with that lion eating the tang that size... I'm putting money on the idea that something else is up... Hmmm.... aren't lions able to excrete toxins into the water column if stressed??? The toxin is definitely potent enough in a closed system like an aquarium to cause severe trauma or death to tankmates... You did say that the battle to remove him from QT was epic right? lol. Perhaps he got stressed to the point where he released toxins into the water with his move into the new tank with new fish. That would explain how the fish died off one by one (except the one you saw literally get swallowed), and the CUC got each of them.... any thoughts anyone??

i wasnt gonna kill him but i was very mad that he ate so much. i should have gotten rid of him after he ate the first fish, but cuz he look so good i figured i would give him a chance. so it really is my fault. so i will be on the look out for larger fish. would a full sized yellow tang be able to survive with him? or should i look for larger fish
I could see you smaller fish being eaten by the lion, but the tang surprises me, did the lion actually consume him or is it possible he died from another cause? I keep a tomato clown, and a yellow tang with my lions and scorpions and have not had an issue. my tang is about 5" and the lions are about 10". How big is your lion? What are you feeding? any pics? If you decide to dump him let me know, I am not far down the road from you, I may be interested.
Good Luck
