Sorry to hear this. It doesn't sound too good. How was he at the fish store? What was your acclimation process?
Water readings?
Not much to be done without a QT.

he looked fine at the store, even for about a day here.
i aclimated him for an hr. put him in an icecream pale then slowly added my water just like the prcedure shown on this site.
all the other critters seem fine and healthy.
could it been too much stress?
the store had him less than a day which he told me was a 6 hr ride in a bag. then an hr trip with me in a bag .....

Could have been on its way out before you even got it. You should take it back to the store with a water sample from your tank and ask for a credit.

well that might be a problem since there is a sign that plainly states:
: no guarantee on any salwater fish :

What are your water readings? It doesn't sound as though a whole lot can be done for him at this point. For future reference, never buy a fish that just came in at the lfs. Have them hold the fish for you and be sure that it is eating before you buy. Acclimate fish for two to three hours, an hour isn't realy long enough for most species. I hope that he pulls through. Keep the lights minimal right now.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your lionfish. However, the long term outlook wasn't too good anyway since damsels frequently harass lionfish, nipping at their pectoral and anal fins until the fish looks like a torpedo and cannot swim anymore.
