My LR is covered in wierd slime :scared:
It's the only one that looks like this. The other ones look fine while this one looks moldy. Its covered in a white mold like substance. It was like that at first but i wasn't concerned until a piece of it fell of and left a trail of green slime !!!!
What is it and should i throw the LR away?
Heres a few pics of it:

For the future, you should be able to take out the rock wash in salt water--I use the water from the tank (water change) and scrub with a brush. The rock should be ok to use again once cleaned. If you already threw it out and can retrieve it, you will have to recure it. It appears to be a sponge that died.

Did you cure that rock before you put it in there?
The white stuff is called "die back" . The sponge and stuff on live rock grows in layers like skin. It gets too much air exposure when collected and transported. Basically what your seeing is a blistering sunburn. The bad things in a nutshell are; thats way too much dead stuff, it suffacates the beneficial bacteria inside the rock.
