My luck got a little better....

Well after sitting at home drugged up for the last couple of days after cutting my hand open, my dad caught me staring at my aquarium (for an hour or two i guess) and decided he didnt like the mess of wires everywhere. so while he was cleaning up the wiring nightmare and im trying to find my crabs (can only find two out of five) he shorts out my hood light and shocks me in the process. lol no good luck yet..... But after he cleaned up the wiring mess he went to the store and bought me a new GLO t5 HO 24" light strip and 40 pounds of base rock. got all that base rock from a friend who owns the reptile shop here for 20 bucks. so now i got 56 pounds of rock in a 30 gallon tank with 1 yellow tail damsel 2 hermit crabs and a peppermint shrimp. and i accidentally got a blue bulb for my lights, and since this is my only light source, i was wondering if its going to have any adverse effects on my tank. Spotted some purple algea growing in spots all over my live rock too. So i got some good luck to go with my bad luck. Sorry if i dont make a whole lot of sense but i got a lot of drugs in me. if someone could find the question in that mess and answer it for me, that would be great.

I haven't truly studied it enough to give you a firm answer, but I can tell you this. I have a 36 gallon bowfront I have designed as a Peacock mantis tank and I use 3 actinics and only one daylight and all of the corals I have (mainly softies) have done extremely well and I am seeing way more coraline growth in this tank than I am in my main 55 gallon display. I wish I could give you a more precise answer, but have limited time invested into it.

yeah i think next month im going to get the dual strip GLO t5 and have the other two kinds of bulbs in that one. you think with 3 t5s i would have any problems lighting wise keeping anything? and would an anemone be ok with just this one light? not going to get anything just yet, i just wanna know.

Amen to the drugs
I just got home after getting my gall bladder out and I'm spending all day staring into my aquarium in a narcotic-induced fog. The only downside is paying too much attention causes me to spend more money
Feel better soon
