my manderin scared the poo out of me

ok i get home tonigh and take invintory of wats in my tank and i see my manderin and its sitin on the sand bed and its almost all silver so i assume that it had died cuz it wasent moving and it had no color so i reach in with the net to take him out and boom he took off , i was so relived he is still alive, but why is he silver looking mabey its cuz all my lights were off??

Yeah thats normal mine does the same thing when the lights are out. He kinda camoflage himself with the sand then when lights come on u will see him change colors back to normal.
