when ever you think your water needs it. once you have more livestock in there you will definitly be wanting to do your weekly water changes though.

crap... I thought you had already cycled your tank. you put an expensive fish into a not fully cycled tank?
I don't know. For some reason I though your tank had already cycled fully. (this has been an ADD moment brought to you by the makers of Riddlin and Aderol)
OK first thing's first.
>What are your ammonia, nitrate, nitrite levels? they are supposed to all be at zero to indicate that your cycle is finished
>If your tank is done cycling, then there is no use taking out the fish, BUT if you are still reading that stuff in your tank, get the fish out.
>When you have no ammonia, trates or trites get a clean up crew for your tank. they will take care of the diatoms and the nuisance algae you are sure to get. in a few WEEKS put the fish back in.
a water change will effect the cycling. And I really have to ask... HAVE you been checking your ammonia, trate, and trite levels?

yes i checked everything a long time ago, even brought in a water sample to my LFS. EVERYTHING(amonia is 0, no nitrates/trites, ph is fine) is where is should be and i check the water daily which made me assume that my cycle is complete. dont take me as a new jack, i have worked with my 60 gal for 2 years now. i got a clean up crew last week and they seem to be doing the trick. i understand that cycling does take some time but for now the water seems a-ok. i appreciate the concern though. anyway, i guess i should have rephrased me question to, if i do a water change, will my ph, nitrate, or nitrite balance go out of whack because the nano is such a small aquarium? thanks

a water change whould not effect your tank to much as the water you are replacing presumably has good levels.
