Craig, very nice tank. No tank is perfect, and people on this site will let you know really quick what they feel is wrong with your tank. Most of it is in the form of concern, or constructive criticism (like Sharkboy's concern of 3 tangs in a 48" tank)....some will be down right ugly about it.
Me personally, I like your tank....it looks really good, and I hope that mine will look like that at the 6 month mark. And if your fish are getting along...great...if they get too big, i'm positive you will rectify the situation....keep up the GREAT work.

thanks maelv.. I have found that if I use sea water, not mixed RO w/salt things really come alive. I only use RO to top off with. I dont know where you live but if you can get it woorks great.I understand sharkboy was only trying to help... i have been reading this fourum for a while Its where I got most of what I know about reefs.I hope to set up a 175 when we get our house built.
Sharkboy...I called my doctor but he said blue cross wont cover it :notsure:

You dont need all that light, thats over 12 watts per gal. My tank has
one 250w MH 10000k in the center (I hand the center support cut out)
and two 110 actinic blue vho flo. and that comes out to 6.25 watts per gal.
It took my corals several months to adjust since the LFS that I deal with uses mostlyVHO lighting I started off with only 2 hours a day for the MH
and increased it 30min a week untill it got to7 hours a day. now if I buy new corals i start them off in a shaded cave at the bottom
I dont really have any hard corals so I dont know much about them.
MY LFS told me rule of thumb is 4 watts per gal for soft corals
5 to 7 max for hard corals. 12 watts would fry them I think.

you'll see they're to big when the sailfin is 16 inches, and the hippo is a foot long, but your call not mine, the tank looks good

A D is the owner... he set me up everything. He showed me how to make my tank what it is in six months.
if you have any questions he's the one to talk to here in town
Posiden is over by office depot on beville and nova rd, I delt with them for about 7 months. All they wanted to do was sell me stuff to" improve" my water conditions. The guys at amazing told me to go down to the beach and dip 75 gal at high tide about waist deep... do a 90% water change and my tank came to life, havent had a problem on any level since. (Always test the water to make sure the levels are good) . There is aslo a fairly new one on Mason just east of US1. He seems ok but I don't know them to well, lots of stock though.
The only other one I trust besides Amazing is the fish tank in the old albertsons plaza on mason ave and nova rd.

I hear what you're saying about Poseidon. Those two guys are pretty rediculous. Try to stay away from Coral Reef on Mason. They do not offer any help to anyone other than to supply livestock and solicite. I've had bad experiences with just about everyone in town other than the Fish Tank. Those guys have been straight up since day one and are very helpful. Mr. Petman is pretty good too. Always good advice and decent prices however don't bother purchasing anything that swims. It will be a waste of money. I like what you have to say about Amazing. I've been there a few times but its kind of out of my neighborhood. They have a beautiful reef setup at the La Fiesta restaurant though.
Anyway. We should keep in touch. Let me know if you have anything you want to be rid of. It's good to know people locally and I don't really at this point in time. I just recently added a 30g sump/fuge to my 100g system. Have you got any beneficial macro to spare?

So if this going to be too much what kind of light would be good when keeping a soft coral and few easy hard coral that require a light.

working on it, craig. just gotta get off my butt and quit procrastinating. it's not gonna be as neat and colorful as yours since I have no coral, but imo is equally as cool.
