i have the model 3 megaflow sump its rated up to 110 gallon tanks.. for a 58 you would need the model 2 sump. the model 2 megaflow sump is rated up to 75 gallons

you think it would hurt to run the model 3

imo i would get the model 3 megaflow sump it rates up to 110 and its only 10 dollars more than the model 2. you would also have more room for your skimmer.

I am building a project similar. I have the same stand and canopy but am going with a 110 AGA tank. I am interested though why you decided to mix the saltwater separatly? I was going to fill up the tank with my RO water and just add the salt to the tank. Is this not a good thing to do? I did it with my 37g reef when I set that up and it worked out fine. Please let know what you think. I will post my progress as I go.

well imo id rather mix separatly because i test each mix before dumping it in to the dt to make sure salt is ok.. you can do it eaither way but id rather do it separatly..
ill be following your build!

its going to be interesting to watch this. I really like the 46 gal set up, it looks great and real clean.
Are you going to transfer the lights and skimmer over the other tank or are you going to leave it set up and just put different stock in it?

i have had the 46 gal for 2 years now its a great tank but i wanted something bigger.. i dont have a skimmer on the 46gal. just a 350 magnum canister and a maxijet1200 im just gonna take the lr coral and fish everything else im gonna get rid of. or maybe ill use the 46 for a quarantine tank but i donno yet i dont really have the room. the 90 is getting there im just waiting for the lights and skimmer.. tank is finally filled with saltwater everything is running smooth the sand dust cleared up. ill be posting pics soon!

Its kinda late now but I think you would have been better off to put everything from your 46 into your 90 and then just add new water slowly. Everything would have been acclimated to your original water. Now you have to acclimate everything to new water which could case them to stress.

What is your stock list?
stock list!
1 eibli angelfish
1 blue tang
1 chromis
1 pajama cardinal
2 maroon clownfish
and i will also be adding another 6 or 7 chromis and maybe a yellow tang..
i also have 2 engineer Gobys but there not going in to the 90 they make a mess so ill be bringing them back to the lfs.

yes i agree with you 100% i was originally going to do it that way but i dont have the lights yet..i will be getting the lights next mounth so meantime the 90 will be cycleing..
it can still be done that way what i plan on doing is taking out 40 gallons from the 90 and taking out 20 gallons from the 46 and putting it in to the 90 then moving all the live stock in to the 90 then the rest of the 20 gallons from the 46 in to the 90 and it should be fine.
